Not a Fan of Lasko (excuse the pun) December 2, 2008 I wish I could say that I had the experience of the majority of reviewers when it comes to the Lasko 4000. Unfortunately, I am definitely the exception here. It worked fine at first, but after around 6 months, it started becoming increasingly noisy. Given that I had this in the bedroom, it didn't make for a comfortable night's sleep. In about the 8th month, I had picked it up while cleaning and later found that when I turned it on, the noise level had escalated and it didn't seem to work properly. Once again being the exception to other reviewers, I actually had a much better experience with the Brookstone MiniMax fan. It's still going strong and unlike the Lasko fan, you can set 1,2 and 3 hour intervals before auto shut-off. Even without that feature, I would have been happy with Lasko if it hadn't burned out on me.
decent fan, not the best December 1, 2008 Bought this fan to use as a small desk fan in my bedroom during the warmer summer months. I feel as though this fan makes too much noise for the amount of air it circulates so I never sleep with it on. The "high" setting is not that high and the low is very, very low. Still a fine fan and I use it quite often, but I cannot overlook the noise level.
a great personal fan November 23, 2008 This is a great personal fan. I use one in my bedroom, at high speed with rotation, about 8 feet from my bed. I use another at my work desk, at low speed without rotation, about 3 feet from me. They're quiet and gentle, just right for someone who's uncomfortable when no air is moving around him or her.
Good product: but one problem I hadn't foreseen November 22, 2008 I bought this fan about a month ago, to fit in a tight spot on my work desk. It seems to be a good product: it's very compact and occupies a very small footprint, relative to its cooling power. It's tolerably quiet, albeit not silent. The one deficiency that I hadn't foreseen is that, unlike radial fans, you cannot direct the airstream up or down. It can only be directed horizontally. Therefore, you have to mount the fan at a height that's exactly correct, relative to the level at which you want the airstream.
Decent Little Fan September 19, 2008 For its small size, it does a decent job in a small room or office.
