 The brand is ok, but the "land" pieces on this ball are easily able to be ripped off. August 25, 2008
In general we like the "tuff" ball brand a lot because they are harder to destroy them most other balls, BUT.....the green land pieces on this ball are just glued on. As such, my dog was EASILY able to rip off (and tried to eat) all of the green land pieces. After they were all ripped off, he played with the ball - but I was disappointed in the ball and the ability for it to be torn apart especialyl when this brand is know for its durablilty! Ive bought other "tuff" balls, but I try and not buy any like this with little pices that can be ripped off - since they are just glued on. Also, this ball - like all of the tuff balls - have 2 holes in it - which allows your dog to get his/her teeth in there which they use to try and rip it. Still though, I would buy "tuff" balls, but NOT this one ever again because o fhte little pieces that can be destroyed.

This ball is huge. I wanted something big enough for our 2 large and 1 medium/large dogs to play with. And this is definitely big. About the size of a LARGE grapefruit.
Seems to be pretty durable. A couple of the green countries have been peeled of by my very talented nibbler, Bunny. She is the Queen of toy destruction. Bought this and several other PD toys for them for Christmas, all seem to be doing pretty well. This one shows the most damage, with only a couple countries missing.

Loved the ball and the texture of it but the dogs have chewed most of the green off. The ball has held up well to the heavy chewers that I have.

My dogs go though balls like crazy. The orbee ball is the first ball that actually lasts a while. They chewed the planets off, but the rest is nearly indestructible. I love this ball.

I got this because it was a friday sale item. This is the item that put "Planet Dog" on the map? Numerous awards? Best product of the year? I checked out their site and could find no awards. It appears this product works well for many people. Not for me and Daisy, a 3-year old yellow lab. The only reason I paid the ten bucks is that I was hoping for a very durable toy. My dog is intelligent, and is highly educated in the arts of chewing and toy dismantling.
It took her 12 minutes before destoying half of Europe. South America was next to be peeled off. If your dogs loves to chew and is good at it, stick with the dollar store items, let your dog go wild and throw it away.
As I go to throw this away, I feel a chill in my spine. Let me tell you it is much easier to toss a dollar away than it is a ten spot. Planet Dog needs to spend less time "protecting the enviroment" and more time creating better dog toys. The description says recyclable, but my trash company doesn't recycle rubber yet, does yours? So thank you Planet Earth for one more dog toy piling up the local dump.
As for everyone this works for, that's super! I have yet to find a better toy than a durable tennis ball (by the balls made for practice, they last much longer than competition tennis balls)
