Product Description The Fuji Film FinePix S1000fd's 12x optical zoom lens expands your shooting reach, covering a remarkable focal range of 33-396mm, bringing you close enough to capture subtle expressions. The single built-in lens means you're always ready to shoot, with no need for bulky extra lenses or time-consuming lens changes. Picture Stabilization mode automatically sets the optimum shutter speed and sensitivity for each scene, preventing blur from camera shake or fast-moving subjects, even in low-light situations. Super Macro mode lets you move in as close as 2cm (0.8") making it easy to take high-impact full-frame close-ups. The Panorama Shooting Mode makes it easy to create impressive panoramic photos. This mode captures and combines up to 3 consecutive shots, which are saved to the memory card as a panoramic picture. The FinePix S1000fd automatically detects and corrects unsightly red-eye reflections that often spoil flash photos of people. A large, high resolution LCD with 230K Resolution makes it easy to compose great shots and to see photo details when you play back captured images. The high-resolution LCD can display up to 100 picture images simultaneously in 10x10 array. Use this micro thumbnail view to instantly select specific photos to view or print. A selection of tailored shooting modes provide ideal settings for everything from shutter speed and exposure to white balance. 1/2.3 CCD Sensor File format - JPEG (EXIF Ver 2.2) Aperture - F2.8 - F6.4 (Wide) / F5.0 - F8.0 (Telephoto), max 5 steps in 1/3 EV increment Shooting Modes - Portrait, Landscape, Sport, Night, Fireworks, Sunset, Snow, Beach, Museum, Party, Flower, Text, and PS (Picture Stabilization) Shutter speed - 1/4 second to 1/2000 second in Auto mode Self-timer - 10 seconds and 2 seconds delay Dimensions - Width 4.1 x Height 2.9 x Depth 2.7 (102.5x73x67.8mm) Weight - 11.5 ounces (325 grams)

i usually dont leave review but with this i HAVE to November 22, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I usually dont leave reviews, however with this I HAD to. Although I had never owned a Fuji camera before, I bought it based on the reviews from various websites. I have had Sony, Casio and Canon camera's before but it was time to upgrade my Megapixels and also have more user changeable settings.
PRO's * Looks nice * Lightweight * Cheap * Supports SDHC * Uses standard AA batteries
CONs * Color is horrible! No matter what mode your in or how you change the settings, the color is always off. * Whitebalance settings do NOT work properly. Sure changing the whitebalance settings changes the colors, but from bad to worse! * Even on the highest quality setting and the best ISO, the image is still grainy and not sharp. Hard to believe it is actually 10 Megapixel. * Extremely slow response (I have kids and need the shutter to work the second I press the button.)
I tried playing with the settings for 2 days to get the picture quality I wanted. I had to change settings continuously to get a picture to come out "decent." Since the AUTO setting was poor, it was too cumbersome to take pictures. I had to take the camera back and ended up spending more for a 10 Megapixel Canon Powershot. The Canon is slightly bigger and heavier but well worth it. I figured that it is an investment spending more for a higher quality image, especially if oyu have kids. You cannot put a price on memories. I am completely satisfied with the image quality and functionality of the Canon.
Solid Starter Camera November 22, 2008 I think this is a really good starter digital camera. Since it comes with manual controls if gives you the best of both worlds. I've been using it for student photo projects and it works really well. I was using Olympus & Polaroid cameras before and they do not compare. I like the sturdiness, look and feel and the simplified on screen menu and the listed features are truly great especially at this price. It gives it's more expensive counterparts a run for their money. I must (surprisingly) say that I am now a Fujifilm fan. If you are looking for a step up from film, a step down from an SLR for beginner's or photo student use, this solid starter camera is for you. I don't think you will be disappointed.
The only downside is that it doesn't come with a carrying case or memory card, look for a kit for a better deal.
Replacement Camera November 16, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought the S1000 to replace an older Fuji camera. I like the shape of the Fuji because it fits my hand better than the cigarette pkg sized cameras. This camera had all of the improved features I was looking for and I liked it enough to buy one just like it for my son.
This Camera Is awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! November 13, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I just recived this camera plus a 2GB memory card and the leather case for the camera yesterday. Don't listen to any of the bad reviews on this camera because it is awesome!! It takes the most wonderful pictures with the best clairity you could get with any camera on the lot. I love it DS.
Fantastic camera and great value! November 11, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I love this camera. I made a mistake by purchasing the Kingston 2 meg card. This camera tries to send too much data to a regular card. You need to get a high speed SD card to utilize this fantastic camera to it's fullest.
I hope this helps you if you purchase this excellent deal!
