Handy camcorder January 9, 2009 Gave this to our daughter and she loves the convenience of having it handy to take videos of the grandchildren. It does a great job and we thoroughly enjoy watching all the shows.
Flip Video Ultra Series January 8, 2009 Excellent! A great way to always have a video camera around! Compact with good quality videos.
Video screen malfunction after 30 minutes January 8, 2009 After opening and using the video camera for approx 30 miutes, the upper 2/3 screen had a series of horizontal lines across the screen rendering the image unusable.
tickled pink January 8, 2009 My 11 year old daughter recieved this for Christmas. What she really wanted was a hot pink $395.00 "real" video camera but Santa was more than a little budget consious this year. In the end she recieved the white model with a hot pink racing stripe and loves it. Not just that, but her college age cousins want one too. She uses the tripod and the white 19003 (i think) cables to go. She rarely ever takes the tripod off since her favorite subject to video is herself with friends, doing homework, with her puppy, narratives on her Christmas vacation etc., most times well over 60 minutes a day (the memory capacity).
The only real complaint is that its memory is limited and it "eats" batteries and in less than 2 weeks we have been through a 12 pack of double a's...which is 6 battery changes (it could get expensive, and not great for the environment)! We are switching over to rechargeable batteries and will see how that goes, Otherwise she is very happy with it. It is very "cute", light weight, portable, and very easy to use. They also have alternative colors for those of you not into pink.
Quickly replacing our digital camcorder January 8, 2009 The flip is so convenient to have everywhere, it's quickly replacing our digital camcorder. And the fact that the video on it doesn't need to be captured from the camcorder to the PC makes it so fast to share the video once it's taken so we're getting to the videos much quicker. The picture quality is surprisingly good, even when viewed on a large screen TV. One improvement I'd look for, if there's ever a similarly priced camcorder that adds an optical zoom instead of digital, I'd probably buy a new one almost immediately. The zoomed video gets very grainy very fast, makes the zoom almost useless. It's surprisingly good on batteries. We get at least a couple of hours of recording and transfer from every pair of AA batteries.
