Wishbone: Dog Days of the West August 28, 2009 I was really worried about this movie because I thought the director might get new actors or give Wishbone a different voice. (Thank goodness they didn't do that) Not this movie! It is fantastic; Wishbone is still voiced by Larry Brantley, and Joe, Ellen, Wanda and all the others are played by the original actors. The only disappointing thing is that David is not in the film.
The plot of this movie is about a man from Chaparosa, Texas. His name is Bill Longley (played by Wishbone) and his friend is Tom Merwin. They tame the land together but a man named Calliope Catesby is roughen up the town, which makes an action packed shootout on Bill and Tom's hands. Also, in Oakdale, Wanda Gilmore saves a girl when a falling beam almost hits her. Everyone is treating Wanda as a hero, but a sneaky TV reporter tries to make her out as a town tyrant.
I really wish this movie was in theaters because it was made so well. Running at about an hour and a half kids and adults won't be bored. This is such a special movie that I would be a fool not to recommend it.
Great family film June 14, 2005 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
As with all the Wishbone series Wishbone: Dog Days of the West is a great family video. My children always ask to check it out at the library. We've seen this movie several times and it doesn't get old.
The story line is interesting and it is not difficult for elementary age children to follow along even though it goes between modern times and the western.
And, of course, Wishbone is adorable. If your children like animals they will love this show.
Fabulous! August 19, 2004 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Though my family loved the PBS series, I was a little dubious about the quality, content and pace of this "feature length" movie, but it's actually funnier and more engaging than any of it's 30 minute counterparts. This sustained the interest of 2 adults, my 9yr old son and both of his toddler sisters better than most Disney features! Though I believe the film may star a new Wishbone, the doggy acting was still quite charming, and the usual gang are all back in fine form, with the additional fun of seeing a much more grown up David. What really makes this movie fabulous are the perfectly acted western sequences. Calliope, the town drunk, is nothing short of hilarious, but in addition to some really good laughs, the story also offers a very warm and meaningful moral highlight. Even my critical husband was impressed....This is great family fun your kids will enjoy watching over and over again!
This Is a Good Movie for Kids and Adults -- by FilmBoy March 17, 2004 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
"Wishbone's Dog Days of the West" is very funny. The voice of Wishbone really helps you to see the dog's feelings; I think. The movie's story is based on stories by O. Henry. This movie is for all ages. Wishbone is one of the cutest little dogs of all times. You really should see this because... You'll love it! It'll make you want see other Wishbone movies! It shows how the reports on TV you may see can often be twisted!
Hi! Wishbone da dog. July 9, 2003 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Wishbone is what one might call a amazing dog.Has more adventures than one can count playing a variety of people. It really cute to see him put a hat or shirt or pants and play Hercales,Sherlock Homes,Frankenstien, and all sorts you would think would be very akward on four legs. And did I forget? OF COURSE HE TALKS!A high funny voice that seems to match him well. In this one a cowboy hero is what he's playing having to fight a drunken ranch hand along with his pal I think called Bill.I don't want to give away much more but It's a good family movie thats exciting and interesting. In real life(For Wishbone imagines his adventures in another time)His owner and friends are trying to keep the mayors name clear. In this movie the Kids have become Teenagers so It's the later years of Wishbone.Anyhow I didn't give spoilers and I hope you got the idea of the movie.ARF!
