Hard to Read October 28, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I had a lot of trouble reading this book. It was hard to get into, and seemed to be aimed more at the teenages? I thought it would be great as I love fashion-emphasis literature, but it turned out to just not flow well for me. I'm not even sure my tween daughter would like it. Disappointment.
This was a fun read... October 24, 2008 ...for my 12 year old daughter (it's definitely for pre-teens and most certainly for pre-teen girls). Imogene and her BFF Evie take a trip to L.A., to take part in a Fashion Fantasy camp, but Imogene gets pulled into the Hollywood movie scene, leaving Evie behind. In the end Imogene realizes that friendship is far more important than fame could ever be. Accidentally fabulous talked a lot about becoming famous (which is many girls' secret fantasy), fashion, fashion shows and beauty contests, with a lot of current celebrity name dropping on top of all of that; and that's enough to keep a young girl engaged.
Passed along to friends October 23, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
My 10-1/2-year-old liked this so much that she has passed it along to her friends to read as well. From her, that is HIGH praise.
mona lisa October 21, 2008 This is an enjoyable book about the adventures of imogene. This is very well written and a must read.
well, I've read worse... October 17, 2008 I didn't read the first two books in this series... and now, I really don't want to. This book is totally crazy (in a bad way). It's about a 17 year old girl with her friend, and they're scooting all over the place, with no parents or anyone responsible for them, all focused on name-brand expensive things... going out to parties... Maybe books like this are why everybody is in debt now, because they think by 17 they should be wearing D&G sunglasses with their Couture outfits and a full Tiffany's ensemble of jewelry. I think this sets a bad example for teenagers, let's just go back to the bad examples of sex and drugs, at least those are reasonable and affordable, and occasionally parentally supervised. I mean, maybe I should just be happy that there are teenagers somewhere who would actually read this as opposed to doing drugs or not being literate period.
