Ragweed September 1, 2008 I bought the book titled Ragweed for my granddaughter, who needed it for a summer reading project. She waited until the last minute to tell her mother, so I ordered it online at an unbelievable price and it came a few days later. The book was in great condition and everyone was happy. Just a thank you for the sender and I may order the rest of the collection from him. Jaime Mitchell
Put in a mouses shoes..... August 2, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is a VERY good book, for people up to the age of 15. As I finished this book, I told my mom that next time we went to Barnes and Noble, we had to get the 2nd. (Poppy). I finished that a couple of days ago and also loved it! Now I have book 3 and 4. It is not the best book I have ever read, that would be Jeremy Fink and the Meaning of Life. But this is running up. Although, I liked the 2nd Poppy, a little better than Ragweed. There just so different. Plus this really makes you appreciate all the living creatures (like mice), in this world. PLEASE READ!!!
A Book Review From a Spiritridge Third Grader March 22, 2007 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Do you want an adventurous, dangerous, thrilling story that will make you jump out of your skin? Well, you should read Ragweed, by Avi. Ragweed is about a mouse that lives by a brook and wants to travel from country to country to see the world! He comes along a fork in the road and needs to decide which way to go. Suddenly, a vole bumps into him! Finding himself starting a conversation on which way to go, he discovers that one path leads to a railroad! So he follows it to the railroad and gets on one of the parked trains. After the train ride Ragweed runs top speed to escape a cat! The rest is SECRET until you read the book!
I enjoyed that Ragweed met lots of friends, including extremely unpleasant ones! For example, he meets Silversides and Graybar two unpleasant cats.
Readers who are interested in adventure and who can read thick chapter books should read this book! It is very satisfying!
Ragweed March 7, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Avi's book, "Ragweed" tells a tale of a mouse named Ragweed who leaves his home to explore and experience new things. He sets off by train for Amperville, a big city with cars, music, and danger. Danger of cats. Silversides is the founder and president of F.E.A.R., which stands for Felines Enraged About Rodents. It's an organization where cats gather and get rid of mice. Graybar, the vice president is willing to help her. Later on, Ragweed meets and befriends band members known as Clutch, Dipstick, Lugnut and Blinker, a white, shy pet mouse. Among these friends, they decide that they should start a club without a cat trashing it. Together the mice transform an abandoned bookstore into a cool new club, the Cafe Independent. But with Silversides and Graybar on the move, just how long will the club remain?
Adorable! February 13, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I am currently reading this book, its the second time I've read it and it is just adorable. Clutch has got to be my favorite character; she's a rebel, rides a skateboard, plays the guitar, and to top it off she dyed her hair (fur on top of her head) green! This story is exciting and cute and good for anyone who likes the Avi series or just loves animals.
